Pysanka - Ukrainian easter eggs
There is the old ester tradition in Ukraine to make special easter eggs - pysanki. Pysanky are known in our land before Christianity comes here. They are really magic.
I have never made pysanky in my life. But some time ago I've seen in online shop the special instrument for making easter eggs and it was rather cheep. So, decided to try.
Here is the worst MC ever:) But it is my first experience of making ukrainian easter eggs.
My set of tools was looked like this:
Before all I've extracted the contents of the eggs, but it's not necessary. You can use usual boiled eggs.
I've chosen the simple pattern for my pysanka. Heh. Like on the left one on this picture.
It was really unusual to work with this instrument. The hot wax comes through the small canal and you can make thin lines on the egg. It's better to take a natural wax, not paraffin.
After all lines was on I've put the egg in the yellow color. If you use some different colors the coloration begins with the most light color. For example I wanted to use yellow, green and red colors. So the first color I used was yellow, after it was green and red at the end.
I don't know why, but the color went bad. But anyway we'll cover the egg with another colors.
After it I've covered with the wax the places I wanted to stay yellow. The first layer of the wax is still on the egg. After it I put the egg in the green color.

It's not my photo, I took it from this blog http://pisankyilona.blogspot.com/2014/05/blog-post_1173.html
At first I drew the pattern on the egg with a pencil.
After I covered with a wax the lines I wanted to stay white. That was looked like this:
After all lines was on I've put the egg in the yellow color. If you use some different colors the coloration begins with the most light color. For example I wanted to use yellow, green and red colors. So the first color I used was yellow, after it was green and red at the end.
The wax protected the white lines on the egg from yellow color.
After it I've covered with the wax the places I wanted to stay yellow. The first layer of the wax is still on the egg. After it I put the egg in the green color.
This time the color went bad too. I was upset. And may be because of it I've made a mistake. I absolutely forgot to cover with a wax the places which must be green and at once put the egg in the red color.
So, at the end I had pysanka with two colors - yellow and red. There wasn't any green color on the egg, it was covered with the red one. And the red color went so bad. So I was very very upset. My experience was failed. I removed the wax and thought that my work is awful.
But my husband saw it and said that the egg so special and authentic. And really...it's not bad, just very authentic :)
Thanks for reading :)
